The Adult and Senior Behavioral Health Inpatient Program at Larkin Community Hospital is designed to stabilize the crisis that led to hospitalization, provide a thorough evaluation, develop a treatment plan and coordinate care in a supportive and warm environment with 24-hour nursing care. Our Adult Program accepts patients over the age of 18 and our Senior Behavioral Health Program accepts people over the age of 55. Ancillary services of other hospital departments are utilized when needed for the benefit of the patient's health.

Admission to the Adult and Senior Behavioral Health Programs is contingent upon verification of medical stability. This is necessary to ensure that each patient has the opportunity to participate fully in the clinical programming that includes group, individual and recreational therapies daily.

Mental or emotional problems affect all aspects of our lives. Individuals may become so overwhelmed that they cannot function day-to-day and may require intensive treatment in a hospital setting. Signs and symptoms that individual's exhibit may include one or more of the following:

Acute depressive episodes
Severe mood swings
Suicidal behavior and/or threats

Most mental illnesses are treatable especially if dealt with early. In addition to improving one's outlook on life, therapy also helps individuals to better care for themselves and follows their physician's directions.
