Our mission is to provide the highest quality care with outstanding values and superior customer service.

The Clinical Laboratory and Pathology Departments assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The laboratory department is under the direction of medical doctors who are board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.

The department is staffed by medical laboratory technologists and technicians who are licensed by the State of Florida Board of Professional Regulation, phlebotomists and support staff. The laboratory is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO) and licensed by CLIA.

The laboratory is divided into specialties which include Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Serology, Blood Bank and Microbiology. The hematology technologist counts and examines blood cells to help diagnose anemias, leukemias and bleeding disorders. The chemistry technologist uses state of the art equipment to quantify proteins, electrolytes and other serum components such as glucose and cholesterol. In the serology department, the technologist analyses the serum for the presence of antibodies produced by the body in response to infectious organisms. The presence of IgM antibodies in serum help the physician diagnose a current or active infection, whether the presence of IgG antibodies determine immunity to the infection from past exposure. The role of the microbiology technologist is to analyze specimens to isolate pathogenic bacteria and identify antibiotics that will help treat infections. The blood bank is stocked with blood and blood components that are routinely transfused to a patient that is either bleeding or requiring a blood product for replacement therapy. Compatibility testing is performed between the patient's and donor blood to assure our patients receive safe and compatible blood.

The laboratory is an integral part of the healthcare team and plays an essential role in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders. We are open 24 hours/ 7 days a week. For an appointment please call 305-284-7540. Physician's orders are necessary for all tests performed.
