To improve patient health outcomes, and to promote healthy behavior/lifestyles, we involve the patient and their families in their care and decisions by presenting them information in ways that are understandable to them.

Our staff is trained to assess different learning levels and needs. Pamphlets, brochures, and other educational materials are available on each unit for distribution as needed to the appropriate patient or family member.

The educational process of the patient/family is coordinated among the various disciplines involved, as appropriate to the plan of care. This collaborative and interdisciplinary approach ensures that the information patients/family receives is comprehensive, consistent, and as effective as possible.

Examples of educational materials available include but are not limited to topics on the following:
  1. Smoking Cessation
  2. Diet Counseling
  3. Medication Use
  4. Coumadin Teaching
  5. Diabetes Mellitus
